Project goals
Transport for NSW proposes to install a two-way cycleway along King Street, Sydney between the Clarence Street and Pitt Street intersections within the City of Sydney local government area.
The Project is to provide direct connectivity to Pyrmont Bridge and routes from the West and to Oxford Street and routes to the East. In addition, it provides important interconnectivity between the north-south corridors including Kent Street, Pitt Street and Castlereagh Street.
Scope
Transport for NSW's objectives for the Project are to:
- Improve connectivity for cyclists between Clarence Street and Pitt Street;
- Improve road use and function for cyclists and drivers and be considerate of road function, and access needs;
- Meet WHS legislation, and is safe, efficient, and practical for workers and commuters, particularly during construction when it is operating under temporary traffic arrangements;
- Improvement of road safety for all users including pedestrians, cyclists and vehicle drivers;
- Improving the visual aesthetic of local streets and walkways;
- Ensuring pram, kerb ramps provide suitable access for pedestrians of all abilities as well as cyclists;
- Providing visibliity of sign posting and line markings.

Additional details/instructions
Tenders are invited from pre-qualified contractors with Transport for NSW under the National Prequalification Scheme at R2 or Higher for Roadworks & Financial Category F10 or higher.
A pre-tender meeting will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, 8 October 2024 at 71–79 Pyrmont Bridge Road. Attendance is mandatory to submit a conforming tender.
Prospective tenderers will need to complete, sign and return the confidentiality deed (in accordance with the instructions in that deed) prior to gaining access to the Request for Tender documents.
TfNSW intends to give access to the RFT by 27 Sept 2024 or a later date upon completion and submission of the confidentiality deed.
