The existing HVAC system at the Collections building - Orange is due for replacement. This will include decommissioning of the exiting HVAC system and complete replacement.

Project goals
The upgrade of the system to compliment the needs of the users which will give the department key energy savings.
Scope
The contractor will be required to decommission 2 chillers and 1 gas boiler as well as all the supporting equipment. This system is the original equipment from the construction of the buildings in the 1990's. The new system will be dependent on the option selected as there will be 2 styles of system to select from. One being a more budget friendly option and the other, the most effective option which has been budgeted for. Heat recovery systems will used to further improve the operating parameters of this system. Primarily the system will cover the offices, though part of this work includes the Department's Entomology and Herbarium Collections which will be also conditioned from the system upgrade. There are 2 buildings that are to be upgraded that are joined by an atrium. The works are planned as staged works to allow for the least disturbance and to give the contractors the ability to plan out the works better. A site meeting will be held to discuss the project in it's entirety including notes to be given to the contractor and questions addressed.
The Entomology and Herbarium section of the building will require the least disturbance, so discussions will be held in regards as to how this will be managed.
