OfficeMax ceases to operate under Contract 278 Presentation Equipment

OfficeMax discontinued in Contract 278 Presentation Equipment effective now.

As previously advised, OfficeMax has merged with Winc Australia Pty Ltd.

As a result, the OfficeMax agreement under Contract 278 Presentation Equipment is terminated effective from 3 October 2019.

Winc will continue to support all products and services provided or installed prior to 3 October 2019 in accordance with the current agreement.

Contract 278 Presentation Equipment extended to 1 November 2019

The Department of Education has extended Contract C278 Presentation Equipment to 1 November 2019.

This extension allows for the renewal process to be completed.

OfficeMax acquired by Platinum Equity

Sale to affect Contract 101 Office Supplies, Contract 278 Presentation Equipment and the Office Furniture Scheme.

Office Depot have announced the sale of OfficeMax Australia to Platinum Equity.

The sale follows Platinum Equity’s acquisition of Winc (previously known as Staples), as communicated on 21 March 2017.

While OfficeMax Australia and Winc are now owned by the same parent company, planning and integration between the two businesses is still being coordinated. As such, your engagement with the team at OfficeMax Australia remains unchanged.

In addition to the purchase of OfficeMax Australia, Platinum Equity’s interest to acquire OfficeMax New Zealand is ongoing, subject to regulatory approval.

OfficeMax is a supplier to the NSW Government on whole-of-government contracts 101 Office Supplies, 278 Presentation Equipment and the Office Furniture Scheme (SCM0771).

This alert is an update to the alert issued on 2 May 2017 advising of a potential sale. OfficeMax says this acquisition will provide a stronger offering to NSW Government agencies.

The department will continue to monitor this activity and provide further updates when required.

Precision Industries Group reinstated on Contract 278 Presentation Equipment

The Department of Education has now formalised its contractual arrangement with the new legal entity. Precision Industries Group have been reinstated on Contract 278 Presentation Equipment.

Precision Industries Australia suspended from Contract 278 Presentation Equipment

Supplier suspended from contract 278 due to legal entity change until deed of novation is executed.

The Department of Education has been advised that Precision Technologies Unit Trust trading as Precision Industries Australia (ABN 32 013 650 056) has undergone a restructure and the contracted legal entity has changed.

The whole-of-government audio visual and presentation equipment head agreement requires that the contractor must not assign its rights or purport to novate its rights and obligations without the prior written approval of the department. The department has not received any communications to this effect.

As of today, the department will be suspending the contractor catalogue on NSWBuy until the parties have agreed and executed a deed of novation to trade under the new legal entity.

The NSW Department of Education will continue to monitor this change and provide updates as required.

Staples rebrands as Winc

Supplier name change to affect Contract 101 Office Supplies, Contract 278 Presentation Equipment and the Office Furniture Scheme.

Staples has changed its name to Winc, effective now. The company will be the same legal entity but will change its legal trading name from Staples Australia Pty Ltd to Winc Australia Pty Ltd.

How will the change impact you?

  • All purchase orders are to be in the name of Winc. All invoices received will be in the name of Winc.
  • The payee and payer name is changed from Staples Australia Pty Ltd to Winc Australia Pty Ltd.
  • The bank details including account number, BSB and SWIFT codes will remain the same.
  • All phone numbers will remain the same.
  • All new email addresses will be firstname.lastname@winc.com.au.
  • The Staples/Winc website(link is external) will be updated with the new logo and brand name. The user experience will be improved.
  • The NetXpress.biz(link is external) website address will not change at this point.
  • The ABN will remain the same (94 000 728 398).

Office Max to be acquired by Platinum Equity

Subject to regulatory approval, acquisition may affect Contract 101 Office Supplies, Contract 278 Presentation Equipment and the Office Furniture Scheme.

Platinum Equity have entered into an agreement to acquire OfficeMax Australia and OfficeMax New Zealand subject to regulatory approval, which may take several months.

OfficeMax supply the NSW Department of Education on contracts 101 Office Products, 278 Presentation Equipment and the state Furniture Scheme SCM0771.

This is an update to the communication issued in November 2016 advising of a potential sale of the business. OfficeMax have advised that the acquisition will add to the quality of service provided to NSW Government agencies.

The department will continue to monitor this activity and provide updates when information becomes available.

Staples to be acquired by Platinum Equity in Australia and New Zealand

Following the transition to new ownership, the acquired business will continue to operate and trade under the Staples brand in Australia and New Zealand for a short period of time while a new corporate brand is created.

While Staples may undertake a corporate rebrand, they have assured that the change in ownership supports their strategic directions to put the customer at the heart of the business and they will remain focused on their customers.

The NSW Department of Education will continue to monitor activities in this space and provide updates as and when required.
